Switch On

Please note: if you can access superfast broadband, you won't automatically get the faster speeds. Our project provides the technology and infrastructure that will allow local residents and businesses to sign up for the service via a choice of Internet Service Providers. To upgrade to the new speeds you need to order it from an Internet Service provider.

Follow our simple step by step guide on how to get Superfast Broadband.

Step 1 - Is it avaliable in my area?

To check the avaliability in your area simply enter your postcode here, on the postcode checker on the homepage of our website or use the DCMS superfast checker.

Step 2 - Choose the best service

To connect to Superfast Broadband, contact your current Internet Service Provider to upgrade to the new speeds. Until an upgrade is purchased your speeds will not improve. It might be a good idea to compare prices online from a range of providers to find out what offers are avaliable before choosing a service that best suits your needs. There are many broadband comparison sites avaliable including UswitchCable, Broadband genie, Money Supermarket and Go Compare.

Some of the home superfast broadband internet service providers are listed here: http://www.connectedcounties.org/#providers.

Step 3 - Place your order

Once you’re happy with your choice of contract, contact the broadband provider directly to sign-up and arrange installation.

Service not available?

The speeds received at your property are dependent upon the distance of your property from the newly enabled superfast broadband cabinet. Typically, properties must be within a 1200 m line length of the cabinet to receive superfast speeds (24 Mbps or above); the closer your property to the cabinet, the better your speeds will be. Beyond 1200m there is speed degradation and if you are located over 2km away from the cabinet it is unlikely you will see an improvement in your speeds. You can view a list of upgraded cabinets here.

A property may not receive superfast speeds (24 Mbps or above) but may see a good uplift in speeds, for example from 1 Mbps to 20 Mbps. Speeds of this kind are plenty for usual online activities such as streaming iPlayer or Netflix, online shopping and banking and sending and receiving emails and files.

If superfast broadband is not avaliable to you, you may fall into the final 2.6% of premises in Hampshire for whom there is no funding or plans to connect to at the moment. You can read more about the final 2.6% here. Register with us via the postcode checker to stay informed about funding avaliability.
