New Rural Gigabit Voucher Scheme Launched Today
Posted on Monday May 20 2019 by Gregg Vanwyk
New government funding has been made available to help business and residents in some of the hardest-to-reach places in Hampshire with the cost of installing gigabit capable broadband. The full fibre connection provides a speed of one gigabit or 1,000 megabits per second (Mbps) direct to individual premises.
To be eligible, people have to be part of a group project – which means two or more residents and/or small and medium-sized business (SME) would have to apply together. The vouchers are aimed specifically at rural premises with broadband speeds below 30 Mbps.
Successful applicants can claim up to £3,500 per (SME) and up to £1,500 per resident to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections.
This scheme is running in conjunction with the Gigabit Voucher Scheme which is only open to residents if they apply with a business, and is available in rural and non-rural areas. See: https://gigabitvoucher.culture.gov.uk/
