New Build Sites

New housing developments are frequently constructed without the infrastructure in place to support superfast broadband services, despite a fast broadband connection being considered by many to be the fourth utility.

It is not possible for the public sector to require developers to install superfast broadband as part of the planning permission process, but Hampshire County Council is working with developers and planning authorities to ensure that all new build sites include the infrastructure to support superfast broadband.

The County Council also advises purchasers of new homes to seek confirmation from the housing developer that superfast broadband will be available on site from the day that they move in.
